Day 22 Gijón to Avilés +-26km’s
The big city of Gijón where Pilgrims take the bus to get in and out. I did not but I can feel it from pounding pavements. It was not exactly a fun day leaving the city but I made the best of it. You always come across something beautiful in this world no matter where you are.
Eventually I landed up on the trail and in the countryside which was awesome.
The route took us through the beautiful Santa Eulalia, Tabaza and sadly road through Trasona onto Avilés.
The heat did not help at all.
A highlight was bumping into Benjamin and Sonja on the side of road close to Tabaza. The only Pilgrims I’ve come across from the start of my Camino.
I took some time to smell the roses despite the hard roads. It’s been great hanging out with Benjamin and Sonja this evening.
