Day 14 Requejada to Cóbreces +-23km’s
The Albergue was on the main road, as a result I was up early. I was quite relieved to see the back of the Albergue this morning. A very different walk through the city enjoying a somewhat industrial sunrise. The route took us through the farming villages of Barreda and Viveda before arriving in the beautiful historic town of Santillana del Mar. We stopped briefly in El Arroyo and chatted to Antonio Jesus, a local from the town. He spoke broken English and that’s all we needed for a good old chat.
The highlight for me was visiting the Iglesia de San Pedro in Oreña. We were offered a fruit juice and a free guided tour. Despite the hard road surfaces, the walk to Caborredondo and Cigüenza was awesome. Our final stop for the day was Cóbreces. We’re staying at the Albergue el Pino as you enter the town. A very clean Albergue with beautiful views.
