Day 4 between Itziar & Deba to Markina-Xemein +- 33km’s.
It all started from our Casa Rural in Donibane this morning. The thought of a long Day did not impress us much after yesterday’s treacherous walk.
The walk down to Deba was horrendous, steep and slippery. We stopped for coffee in the town to fuel up.
Just because you walk many Camino’s does not mean you are immune to getting lost. Jane and I were so busy looking down at mud that we missed the right turn between Deba and Olatz on the Del Norte. We walked up an old closed section on the log track. An old faint arrow does not mean it’s on the Camino. A man in his log truck saved the day but it cost us an hour. We had a great 30km day... NOT! Okay, I must confess after this mess the views were fabulous over the mountains to Markina-Xemein.
The thought of doing a long day, little did we know it would be even longer.
